이탈리아 국경넘기

 

 

 

 

 

다섯명의 영국인이 아우디 꾸아뜨로(Audi Quattro) 를 몰고 이탈리아 국경에 도착했다.
이탈리아 세관원이 그들을 세우고는 말하길,
"꾸아뜨로에 다섯명이 타는 건 불법이오."

"불법이라니 그게 무슨 말입니까?" 영국인들이 물었다.
"꾸아뜨로란 넷을 의미하쟎소," 이탈리아인 세관원이 대답했다.

"꾸아뜨로는 그저 차 이름일 뿐예요," 영국인들이 못 믿겠다는 듯 반박했다.
"자 이 서류를 보세요, 이 차는 다섯명을 태울 수 있게끔 돼 있다쟎아요."

"그걸 꺼내봐야 소용 없소,"  세관원이 대답했다.
"꾸아뜨로란 넷이란 뜻이오. 당신 차에 다섯이 탔고, 그러니까 당신은 법을 어기고 있는 것이오."

영국인들은 화난 소리로 대답했다.
"멍청한 양반같으니! 당신 상관을 불러 주쇼, 지능이 좀 더 나은 사람과 얘기해야겠소!"

"미안하지만 그는 지금 올 수가 없소," 세관원이 말했다.
"피앗 우노(Fiat Uno) 에 탄 두 남자들 때문에 바쁘단 말요."

Five Englishmen in an Audi Quattro arrive at the Italian border.
The Italian Customs agent stops them and says,
"It's illegal to put 5 people in a Quattro."

"What do you mean it's illegal?" asked the  Englishmen.
"Quattro means four," replies the Italian official.

 
"Quattro is just the name of the automobile,"
the Englishmen retort disbelievingly. 
"Look at the papers: this car is designed to carry 5 persons."

"You can't pull that one on me," replies the Italian  customs agent.
"Quattro means four. You have five people in your car and you are therefore
breaking the law."

The Englishmen replies angrily,
"You idiot! Call your  supervisor over
-- I want to speak to someone with more intelligence!"

"Sorry," responds the Italian official, "he can't come.
He's busy with 2 guys in a Fiat Uno."
